The NHS provides funding for those patients where orthodontic treatment is needed to secure the health of their teeth and jaws. In cases of mild irregularity or a cosmetic desire, the NHS cannot provide funding. However, we are happy to provide this treatment under private or independent contract. We would start with an assessment at your consultation. Once we have agreed on the right treatment for you, we can begin to prepare your custom-made appliance. These are designed by the orthodontist according to the problem being treated, as discussed in your appointments.
In most cases, you will be able to choose from a range of options, but sometimes one type of treatment will produce better results than another. Each of our specialists has upwards of 20 years of experience, so you can be confident that they can advise you on your best course of treatment.

In most cases, active treatment with orthodontics lasts 12 to 18 months. The actual time will depend on the growth of the patient's teeth and mouth. Factors also include the severity of the initial problem and the patient's cooperation.

As a general rule, we will ask to see you every 10 - 12 weeks, depending on the type of brace you have and the stage of your treatment. With our Dental Monitoring app, we can schedule remote appointments in some cases, freeing up your valuable time.

The overall cost of braces will depend on the type of treatment you have and the severity of the problem. Several factors. We can offer you flexible payment plans to help make the cost more manageable, all of which are outlined here.

Once you have completed treatment with your appliance and your teeth have been corrected, removable retainers will be fitted. These will work on keeping your teeth straight as you transition away from your fixed brace. Initially, you will be advised to wear them during the day and night. As time goes on, this will change to just nighttime wear, but this will be discussed with you at later appointments.

With modern orthodontics, the fitting of braces rarely causes major discomfort. You may be uncomfortable after the tightening of your braces for a few days, usually with headaches that can be controlled with painkillers. Please contact the practice for advice or to book an appointment to see your orthodontist if the discomfort does not subside.
